9 Substacks You'll Probably Really Like
If you're enjoying Revel + Verve, check out these other substacks too.
I was talking to my sister recently about Substack. She, like many people, is new to the platform and wasn’t finding it particularly intuitive.
A big part of getting the most out of this platform as a reader (meaning you don’t write your own Substack), is to seek out and subscribe to a collection of of Substacks based on your personal interests.
But, like I said, that’s not always intuitive.
So I thought I’d share some Substacks I’m really enjoying, along with a post from each that I think is a really good read.
And, in case it’s helpful, here are a few guidelines that I follow in order to get the most out of being here.
I don’t follow more than 15 Substacks at a time because that gets really overwhelming and I start to feel “behind”, which is annoying.
If I find myself wanting to follow more than 15, I do an audit and unsubscribe from a few for a while, then perhaps go back to them and unsubscribe from others. Meaning, my subscribed list can change up regularly.
I always start as a free subscriber and then once I’m really enjoying one, I upgrade for a month to see if I find it truly valuable. If not, I cancel.
I read once that if you are someone who buys books, then you can consider skipping a book purchase for a month and instead use that money for a few months of a paid substack. I thought that was a cool way to look at it.
I installed the Substack app so that I can easily read a post or two when doing things like sitting in a waiting room.

P.S. I’ve been hosting The Writing Hour a few times a month because I believe that writing is not just for “writers”.
Writing helps us to clear our heads, calm the chaos, solve problems, plan goals, process feelings, think more deeply, and understand ourselves- and the world- better. Click the link below to see upcoming dates and join me. 🙂
